Laser Pocket Reduction

Laser Pocket Reduction

Laser pocket reduction is a dental procedure used to treat periodontal disease, a condition that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth. In periodontal disease, the gums can pull away from the teeth, creating spaces or pockets where bacteria can accumulate and cause further damage.

During laser pocket reduction, a Dr. Ruggirello uses a specialized laser to access and remove the bacteria and infected tissue from the pockets. The laser energy can also stimulate the growth of new, healthy tissue and help to seal the pockets, preventing bacteria from returning.

This procedure is minimally invasive and can often be completed without the need for sutures or other post-operative measures. Laser pocket reduction may be recommended for patients with moderate to severe periodontal disease who have not responded to other non-surgical treatments.
